When you hear the word ‘law’, what comes to your mind? A policeman? A courthouse? The ‘law of the land’? What about ‘the law’ in the church? Though we cannot be saved by the law, a Christian has an obligation to strive to keep the law.

In the previous sermons regarding this subject, we have found that the law of God (Torah) is His instruction, guidance and direction for mankind that far exceeds a simple list of rules. There are at least seven words that are a synonym for ‘Torah’, of which the following three have been covered:

1. Mitsvah:  Commandments

2. Mishpat:  Judgments (applications of the law to specific circumstances)
